The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's Public Library Development Team announces the launching of a new webpage, Affordable Care Act (ACA): Information for Wisconsin (http://pld.dpi.wi.gov/pld_aca). The webpage will feature information about what public libraries can do to help people prepare for implementation of the law, how the marketplace works, how BadgerCare Plus will change, and what "navigators" are serving Wisconsin. If you missed last week's webinar, you can also find the archive and handouts here.

3. BANNED BOOKS WEEK IS SEPTEMBER 22-28, 2013

Banned Books Week (BBW) is an annual event celebrating the freedom to read and the importance of the First Amendment. Held in late September, Banned Books Week highlights the benefits of free and open access to information while drawing attention to the harms of censorship by spotlighting actual or attempted bannings of books across the United States. The books featured during Banned Books Week have been targets of attempted bannings. Fortunately, while some books were banned or restricted, in a majority of cases the books were not banned, all thanks to the efforts of librarians, teachers, booksellers, and members of the community to retain the books in the library collections. This year's celebration is September 22-28, 2013. For more information, see http://www.ala.org/advocacy/banned/bannedbooksweek.
