1. INTERLIBRARY LOAN SYSTEM SURVEY RESULTS

Public library participants in the 2012 Fall ILL Meeting co-sponsored by WiLS and Resources for Libraries and Lifelong Learning (RL&LL) asked for updated tools to foster better understanding of current Wisconsin resource sharing practices. In 2010, Bob Shaw of WiLS and Charles Clemence of Winding Rivers Library System conducted a survey to gather resource sharing platform data at the system level. There have, however, been significant changes in the resource sharing landscape since that time.

As a result, RL&LL committed to preparing a survey to gather data on resource sharing platforms used by each system, system training, support and resource sharing roles. The purpose of the survey was to collect information about each system’s interlibrary loan activities, staffing, training and types of assistance provided to their individual libraries.

The survey was distributed to the directors of each of the 17 public library systems. All responded. The results were shared this week via webinar and email.

The complete survey results can be accessed at http://goo.gl/rl3WB

2. CELEBRATE NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK, APRIL 14-20, 2013

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. All types of libraries can participate-- school, public, academic and special.

The ALA has downloadable posters (featuring Honorary Chair Caroline Kennedy), digital graphics for your web page, public service announcement templates and recordings, and more on their celebration resource page here: http://www.ala.org/conferencesevents/celebrationweeks/natlibraryweek.
