1. NATIONAL DIGITAL LITERACY DAY RESOLUTION INTRODUCED

On February 27, Representatives Edward J. Markey (D-MA), Anna Eshoo (D-CA), and Doris Matsui (D-CA) along with six of their colleagues introduced a resolution (H. Res. 81) designating March 21 as National Digital Literacy Day. March 21 is also the launch of a three year national Ad Council campaign "3.21 EveryoneOn" to promote the importance of digital literacy. The American Library Association (ALA), along with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, has been actively engaged with this campaign to showcase the work libraries do with digital literacy on 3.21 and the other days of the year.

Libraries - whether school, public, or academic - all have a vested interest in providing digital literacy programming for their patrons. From a library point of view, access to online information is a fundamental component of equitable access to information, a core library value. Whether learning from scratch, building beginning skills, or experimenting with the latest collaborative digital tool, libraries help patrons and students alike locate the best resources and help them navigate our online reality.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction's (DPI) Division for Libraries and Technology encourages libraries to register and update information on their libraries in the EveryoneOn training center locator. Whether your library's computer literacy resources are limited to free public access computers and wireless access, or whether it offers comprehensive computer training classes for various ages and interests, you should list your services in the training locator to help the public find your local resources. DPI has compiled information on the EveryoneOn project and its relationship to Connect2Compete, as well instructions on editing the listing for your library, and useful links to training resources at http://pld.dpi.wi.gov/pld_c2c-everyoneon.

2. BADGERLUNCH SURVEY

This winter, in the BadgerLunch webinar training series, we explored the Spanish resources available through BadgerLink. In planning for future trainings, the BadgerLink team has put together a survey: https://docs.google.com/a/dpi.wi.gov/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dEpZQkpmeHk3a0I1ZDFTeUNhNTRaLWc6MQ#gid=0

Please complete this short survey about BadgerLink's recent BadgerLunch training webinars on Spanish Resources. By completing this survey you will help us evaluate our current webinar format and content as well as provide insight into future trainings.

The survey should not take more than 5 minutes to complete. The survey is open until March 20.

You can the view the archived webinars about Spanish resources by going to the How to Use page and clicking on Language Materials.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kara Ripley, BadgerLink Training Librarian, at kara.ripley@dpi.wi.gov.
