1. STATE SUPERINTENDENT TONY EVERS COMMEMORATES NATIONAL LIBRARY WEEK
In celebration of National Library Week, State Superintendent Tony Evers issued an editorial and proclamation commemorating Wisconsin libraries, saying in part:
"No matter your interest or need, libraries are a great well of resources for users. In honor of National Library Week, April 11 to 17, I encourage all citizens to visit their local library and find out how "Communities thrive @ your library."

2. STATE SUPERINTENDENT APPOINTS NEW LSTA ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
State Superintendent Tony Evers recently announced new appointments to the LSTA (Library Services and Technology Act) Advisory Committee. The new members are Jeff Dawson, Director, Lester Public Library; Teri Iverson, ITSS Director, CESA #3; Leah Langby, Development & Youth Coordinator, Indianhead Federated Library System; Steve Platteter, Technology Coordinator, Mid-Wisconsin Federated Library System; Robert Stack, Director, Portage County Public Library.
Continuing members of the committee are: Becki George, Library Media Specialist, Rice Lake Middle School; Joan Johnson, Assistant Director, Milwaukee Public Library; Deborah Kabler, Director, Barneveld Public Library; Tasha Saecker, Director, Menasha Public Library; Michael Sheehan, Assistant Director, Northern Waters Library Service; Dee Barabe, Learning Resource Technician, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College; Pat Chevis, Retired Library Director; Garrett Erickson, Support Services Manager, Marathon County Public Library; Patricia Laughlin, Director, Hales Corners Library; Lynn Stainbrook, Director, Brown County Library.
Members on the committee serve staggered three-year terms The committee advises the state superintendent and the Division for Libraries, Technology, and Community Learning on the development of the long-range plan for the LSTA program, annual grant priorities and categories, and applications and recommendations for grant awards.
3. WORLDCAT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE OCLC COOPERATIVE-DRAFT POLICY
The OCLC Record Use Policy Council (http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/catalog/policy/council/default.htm) members have been working for the past few months to develop the next generation of a WorldCat use policy. This draft document is open for community review.
This draft document is not final. Between now and the end of May, OCLC very much wants your feedback. Please take the time to review the draft carefully and share your thoughts. You can post comments to the community forum , send an e-mail to recorduse@oclc.org, or register to attend a webinar where you can ask questions and submit feedback to members of the Record Use Policy Council.
4. WEBSITE OF THE WEEK
The Internet Archive -- http://www.archive.org -- is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that was founded to build an Internet library. Its purposes include offering permanent access for researchers, historians, scholars, people with disabilities, and the general public to historical collections that exist in digital format.
